Thank you for staying with me for this series on Goal Setting God's Way!
Today's post is Step 6: Godly Thinking
Part of setting goals is getting our minds set on godly thinking. We cannot set goals and then be thinking negatively about whether or not we will achieve them. God wants us to think on whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent or praiseworthy. He also wants us to not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of our minds so we can test and approve what His will is which is good, pleasing and perfect.
The only way we have a chance to keep our mindset right and not allow fear to take control of us, especially if our goal is a God sized goal, is by staying in His word.
Going along with having a godly mindset is also identifying any limiting beliefs we have that may be hindering us from moving forward towards a goal. A limiting belief is anything you might tell yourself that causes you not to act upon something you know you should do. These sayings can come from anywhere. Perhaps you were told something as a child by a parent, a teacher, a friend that you have internalized to be true of you but it really isn’t. As a result you find it hard to get past that to get to bigger and better things.
For example, a limiting belief can be that you don’t think you have what it takes to run a successful business for whatever reason. This is a weight that entangles you from the freedom to run a business without fear. Take some time to discover what those limiting beliefs are for you and then give them to the Lord. Then remind yourself of your true identity in Christ and that you are more than a conqueror and can do all things through Him.
