I coach, counsel with and speak to women who struggle with their identity and finding a clear path and direction for their life.
I’ve created a system for goal setting based on Biblical principles and God’s will for your life.
I was born in Puerto Rico but raised in Miami, FL. I am the youngest of 3 children and the only girl. As a result I learned to be tough just like my big brothers. Growing up in Miami meant trying to keep up with appearances which was both demoralizing and draining. Many times growing up, I felt out of place and struggled greatly with low self-esteem, depression and anxiety.
At age 7 I developed an ulcer which doctors said was brought on by anxiety. As a result, I met a child psychologist who helped me learn coping skills that helped me get through that time. Because of that experience, I realized my desire to help others who struggled with the same things I struggled with.
At age 11, I accepted Jesus as my Savior while at a youth retreat which started my love for studying the Bible and learning more about who God is and who I am in Him. Although I would like to say that my life has been on the straight and narrow path ever since, in reality it's been more like a roller coaster ride with many ups and downs.
Throughout the years I have had to overcome a lot due to physical and mental health issues. However, I believe that God has used those trials to develop my character and grow me into the woman I am today.
When I'm not helping others, I can be found hanging out with my husband of 3 years and my two little girls whom I affectionately refer to as my “Curly Girls”. We enjoy watching movies and eating ice cream together.
I also have a strapping young man as a son who is 20 years old and lives in Florida.
I love reading personal development books and Christian fiction. My favorite author is Francine Rivers.
Exercise is real important to me and I do it not to look better but to feel better. Therefore, I exercise most days of the week and mix up my workouts between yoga, Pilates, weight lifting, walking and running.
Oh, and did I mention that I nap almost daily? I love to nap- which I consider a hobby in and of itself.
5 Additional Snippets of My Life Are...
1) I currently call Illinois my home.
In my early twenties I decided to start my life over and packed up my son and all my belongings and moved to the cold tundra of Northern, Illinois where no one knew me and I knew no one (I did at least have a job and apartment lined up before making the leap).
2) I find slogging (slow jogging) therapeutic.
After 3 knee surgeries (2 ACL reconstructions- one on each knee and a meniscectomy on my left knee), I cannot run like I used to but I still take pleasure in shuffling my feet once or twice a week.
3) My favorite place on earth is the ocean.
Now that I live up north, I truly miss the beach and its vast beauty.
4) And...I truly enjoy watching romantic comedies.
When I finally sit down to relax, I do not want to watch anything that stresses me out so I prefer to view films that make me laugh.
5) My life Bible verse is:
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. -Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
Now that you know a little about me, I would love to get to know you better.
It would be an honor to coach you towards higher levels of living which simply means helping you to tap into those identified areas of your life that need tweaking to give you overall wellness and help you to stop feeling alone.
